Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish made his much-anticipated regular-season Rangers debut last night. His numbers: 5 2/3 innings, five earned runs, eight hits and four walks allowed. Man, what was all the hype about? This guy sucks!

Nah, just kidding. Darvish had a rough start, allowing four first-inning runs, but was solid the rest of the way. He even picked up the win, as the Rangers’ potent lineup carried the team to an 11-5 win over the Mariners. Overall, an exciting night for Rangers – and Darvish – fans. But that doesn’t convey just how exciting it was for some in attendance. If Yu Darvish’s pitching career is disappointing, we won’t even care. He once inspired a guy to do that. How could his career be a total loss with that in mind? Good on Yu you, crazy fan. If Darvish ever tosses a no-hitter, we hope there’s camera focused on you, wherever you may be.
