The Rays’ David Price Rewarded For Charity Work With…Some Guy Peeing On His Car

It was a good thing Rays star pitcher David Price did on Friday. Rays manager Joe Maddon hosted a charity event at a Tampa restaurant, and Price helped out by serving as a guest bartender. Maddon’s event helped the homeless, and the participation of Price and other Rays undoubtedly made the event more of a draw. And how was Price repaid for his good deed? By walking out and finding some guy peeing on his car. And this guy really, really wanted to pee on his car:

The man apparently didn’t take kindly to being interrupted — he pushed Price and took a swing at him, but Price said he wisely avoided confrontation, joking he was too quick.

The report doesn’t specifically say whether the pee-er was intoxicated, but combine public urination on what we can only assume is a pretty nice car with attempting to fight a man who, putting aside the fact that he makes millions of dollars to throw a rock-hard projectile at high speeds with pinpoint precision, stands 6-foot-6 and 225 pounds…you can see where we’re going with this. The guy’s lucky Price didn’t do anything more to stop him. And one other thing Price said stood out to us as well:

“I was relieved with how it turned out.”

Please tell us the “relieved” pun was intended. When we initially saw “relieved” in quotes in the headline at tampabay.com, we groaned, but no…Price actually said it. And there are few more effective ways to steal our heart than puns. One of them, though, might be handling a peeing-related confrontation this deftly, so Price is just fine with us either way.
