Apparently The Home Run Derby Is Worth Getting Into A Fistfight Over

We wouldn’t want to say fans getting in fights in the stands at games is understandable, exactly, since more often than not, those who get in said fights are idiots (and likely drunken idiots, making it all the worse) trying to prove how fake-tough they are. But there’s generally some kind of impetus setting the fight in motion, like one fan hurling an insult at a rival fan (especially if said rival fan is already on edge because their team of choice is losing). Some kind of tension relating to the game at hand is generally involved.

But the home run derby? There’s no winning/losing stress. Everyone is there to watch some long balls and have a good time. What’s there to get mad about? Well, apparently something:

So we guess RoyalsBro is either really drunk, really angry, or some combination of the two. Maybe he was provoked before the video started. Or maybe this is just the most pointless fight people could possibly get into. Not that the fighting itself seems all that spirited – the mace-spraying near te end might be the most intense part of the video. Again, the most surprising thing here is that the home run derby could foster a pepper-spray-necessitating atmosphere at all. We shudder to think of what the drunk fans in attendance tonight might come up with.
