Keith Olbermann Names Reporter To “World’s Worst” For Doubting Cliff-Lee-To-Phillies Rumor (Video)
In the age of Twitter, we’re all privy to more information than ever. The problem: the more information, the more inaccurate information. So much can be inaccurate, in fact, that many adopt the strategy of not believing much of what they read. This is probably sound, but at one point or another, some crazy rumor you hear is bound to be true…and make you look bad for not believing it. Enter Andy Martino of the New York Daily News.
Reporting from baseball’s winter meetings, Martino said this about the first day of the proceedings:
Lots of information swirling around the Twitter, some of it questionable. For example, if the Phillies sign Cliff Lee, I’ll cover spring training in a Speedo.
Martino’s already catching plenty of grief for those words, and last night, Keith Olbermann couldn’t resist tweaking him on Countdown’s “World’s Worst” segment. He gave Martino relatively mild “Worse” status, and was clearly in a joking mood (ex. expressing mock indignation that Martino “dared to question the technological god that is Twitter”).
As for Martino, we’ll find out whether he’s a man of his word. Although really, if he just covers spring training in this hat, I’m personally ready to call it even.
