Some Young Students From Kenya Re-Enacted Bill Buckner’s Error, And It Was Tremendous

Sure, you knew that if you showed a group of Mets fans the sequence of events that led to their winning Game 6 of the 1986 Word Series, you’d get a strong reaction. You know that if you showed Red Sox fans that same sequence, you’d get an even stronger reaction, and possibly a demand never to show your face in front of them again. But what if you showed that sequence to a group of kids in Kenya?

Well, apparently you’d get a reaction out of them too – enough that they’d want to re-create the scene themselves. What you see below is the result when they did just that. I’d heard a bit about this video. I expected it to be thoroughly enjoyable. But the kids exceeded my expectations. When the kid who “scores” the winning run does a dead-on imitation of Ray Knight grabbing his helmet as he’s about to cross the plate? Spectacular.

Apparently the kids had a choice to either film this or the Music City Miracle. Judging by how all-out they went to make this video, they clearly had some passion for the project – seems to me like they made the right choice.
