Local Papers Use “Sad Mr. Met In Santa Hat” To Show Fans How Screwed Their Team Is

Are you a Mets fan desperate to forget the mediocre season your team just had, the fact that one of your own just left for a division rival, and the bleak prospects for your team’s immediate future, due to its financial situation being in tatters (and not even totally because of Bernie Madoff)? Well, uh, hope you didn’t pick up a copy of the Post or Daily News today, because…

That’s right – two papers, one headline, (almost) one photo-illustration. Mr. Met even looks sad in the one where he’s not made to look like he’s frowning. Or at least angry, what with the raised fist. If even Mr. Met’s in such bad spirits, what hope is there for the rest of us? Well, assuming “the rest of us” aren’t Yankees, Phillies, Marlins, Braves, and Nationals fans. All of them are probably loving this.
