Nick Swisher High-Fived A Fan Who Ran Onto The Field At Comerica Park
Phil Hughes pitched a complete game gem today against Justin Verlander, holding the potent Tigers offense to just one Prince Fielder solo home run and guiding the Yankees to a 5-1 victory. But before the final out, a fan jumped onto the field, approached Yankee right fielder Nick Swisher and greeted him with some sort of handshake/fist pump/high-five. We’re not really sure what exactly took place, as the video is quite blurry, but we appreciate Swisher’s apparent cooperation.
After exchanging pleasantries with Swisher, the fan sprints through center field, changes direction and heads directly towards the unamused second base umpire, who remains completely motionless. Eventually secruity executed the classically brutal takedown/tackle with way more men than necessary, and the fan is carried off the field to the applause of Comerica Park.
