Poll: Yankee Fans Want To Get Rid Of Burnett, Joba, And… CC Sabathia?

In the wake of the New York Yankeesunceremonious exit from the 2010 MLB playoffs, The Daily News has a poll up on their website that asks Yankee fans a simple question: keep ‘em or dump ‘em?

So who should get the axe according to the Daily News’ readership? Not surprisingly, a wrathful Yankees fanbase would like to see a large chunk of their 2010 roster kicked to the curb, mostly the pitchers. 79% of fans want to see the Yankees dump A.J. Burnett, 60% want to see Joba Chamberlain gone, and 54% want the Yanks to cut David Robertson, who had himself a rocky ALCS to say the least.

Those are the understandable ones. So let’s have a little fun and look at the most batshit crazy “dump ‘em,” lest we think Yankee fans are operating with clear hearts the day after their status as defending World Champions was stripped in Arlington.

CC Sabathia won 21 games this season, posted a 3.18 ERA, was owned in 94.2% of ESPN fantasy leagues, and, by all accounts, is in the running for the 2010 AL Cy Young. An over-rested Sabathia gave up 5 runs in a Game 1 ALCS loss, and was shaky in his Game 5 outing, despite getting the win. This postseason shakiness, apparently, is enough for Yankee fans to tell his entire regular season output (not to mention his pivotal role in their World Series win last year) to go fuck itself.

Yes, 66% of Yankee fans want to expunge CC Sabathia from their roster forever.

Other notable stats from the poll, which is still running on the Daily News website: 73% want to dump Alex Rodriguez, the recently-maligned Joe Girardi gets a surprising vote of confidence with a 54% “keep ‘em” rating, 94% of fans want to keep Robinson Cano (the highest “keep ‘em” rating), and, not surprisingly, everybody hates Javy Vazquez.
