Report: Josh Hamilton Relapsed This Week At Texas-Area Bar

Here’s your sad story of the day, as Texas Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton, once out of baseball due to drug and alcohol addiction, has allegedly had an alcohol-related relapse this week at at local Texas bar.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Hamilton was seen drinking alcohol on Monday evening at Sherlock’s Pub & Grill in Dallas. This, after having missed three years (2003-05) of baseball because of his illicit substance abuse. The details of Monday night’s relapse include an appearance by Hamilton’s teammate Ian Kinsler, who apparently had shown up at the bar to persuade Hamilton to leave and go home.

Hamilton, who is looking for a long-term extension with the Texas Rangers, is said to have been sober since 2005, aside from a 2009 incident in which he was spotted drinking in Arizona.

UPDATE: Hamilton held a brief press conference earlier today to discuss the incident, and apologized for his actions while also saying he did not use illegal drugs.
