Rob Dibble Apologizes For Making Fun Of Women At Baseball Game
Rob Dibble has apologized to fans for making “off-handed comments” about two women who were in the stands during last Wednesday’s Washington Nationals telecast.
In case you’re just joining us, Dibble used his telustrator to circle the two women as they carried on a conversation during the sixth inning. Dibble then channeled his inner Tim Allen circa Home Improvement, and offered his theory as to what they were talking about:
“They have some conversation going on. Right here,” he said, circling the offenders. “There must be a sale tomorrow going on here or something….Their husbands are going man, don’t bring your wife next time.”
Surprisingly, Dibble didn’t once refer to the women as “a couple of chatty broads,” but the damage was still done.
Today, Dibble apologized for his comments:
I have had the privilege of knowing a great many fans of all backgrounds who are students of the game. Many of baseball’s most insightful fans, television viewers, and callers to my radio show are women.
And just like my mom in 1990, they know what they’re talking about.
No word yet on whether or not Rob Dibble’s mom knew what she was talking about in 1988 or 1989.
