Ryan Braun’s MVP Speech, In Which He Ignores The Roided-Out Elephant In The Room

This was a moment many were anticipating, as Milwaukee Brewers slugger and NL MVP Ryan Braun made his first real public statement since being suspended 50 games for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs.
Speaking last night at the Baseball Writers Association of America’s awards banquet, Braun took a moment to speak about his most recent challenges, yet never once specifically mentioned his suspension, nor his pending appeal. The speech was somewhat tame, especially when you consider that some were speculating he might either decline the award or speak out further on his innocence. Neither of those things happened, though Braun did mention that he was going to take the opportunity to grow from his most recent challenges. To which we assume he’s not talking about improving his power numbers against left-handed pitchers. Watch:
You have to love the look on Bobby Valentine‘s face as Braun was making his speech. It looked like he was just waiting to cut his mic at any moment. You gotta love having Bobby V. back in the game!
