The Houston Astros Tried To Field A Ground Ball, Decided To Be The Houston Astros Instead

That’s right: The New York Mets are on the right side of a fielding gaffe for once. R.A. Dickey, of all people, was at the dish yesterday afternoon against the Houston Astros in the bottom of the fourth with two outs and a runner on third. He did a pitcher thing, as in hitting the ball 30 feet, and the inning looked to be over. Except both catcher Jason Castro and pitcher Fernando Abad charged to field the ball, subsequently sharing an intimate moment (pictured above) with Abad meekly tossing the ball first-ward as he rolled over on the ground.

Dickey was safe, as you might imagine. Oh, and the run scored from third.

Great hustle, I guess.
