The Twins Played Some Excellent Defense Alongside Scoring Those 19 Runs


It was bring your glove night at Target Field, figuratively speaking. Denard Span very gracefully slammed into the the Orioles bullpen to make a catch. And Ben Revere went horizontal to grab a line drive, giving us some very photogenic evidence of a man who was himself surprised he caught the ball.

The Twins could have taken the night off on defense, what with getting 20 hits and scoring 19 runs while holding the bat. But Adam Jones had a surefire single taken away from him in just the first inning, before the Orioles knew they were going to need all the runs they could get:

Revere also had four hits and three RBIs. So, there was only one guy who could claim to have had a better night than Ben, and that was Denard Span, who lead the team with five RBIs and did stuff like this:

Minnesota notched their 37th victory with this 19-7 win, against a better than .500 ball club in Baltimore. That’s why they play the game — and the catches don’t hurt either.
