You Can Blame A Small Child For Adrian Gonzalez’s Back Injury
Boston Red Sox 1st baseman Adrian Gonzalez has gotten off to a slow start this season, hitting only .283 with 6 HRs and 45 RBIs, and an especially unimpressive .329 OBP. Well, he can now compound that poor start with a touch of bad luck thanks to some kid in a stroller.
Via the Boston Globe:
“Adrian Gonzalez felt fine when he worked out with the Red Sox on Thursday night at Tropicana Field. A routine trip to the mall on Friday changed that.
Gonzalez was getting a cup of coffee at the International Plaza in Tampa when he bent over to say hello to a child in a stroller. That’s when he felt his lower back lock up.”
Doctors checked Gonzalez for osteoporosis, but test results indicated that he is in fact under the age of 85.
This all seems just about right for the Red Sox, who take their morning cup of Joe with a side of dysfunction anyway.
