NASCAR Fans Boo Michelle Obama

Yesterday, First Lady Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, were the Grand Marshall’s at NASCAR’s Sprint Cup finale, which took place at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. The reception wasn’t a great one: although it was tough to tell due to the military flyover and other assorted NASCAR noises, there were definite boos when the First Lady’s name was announced.

It wasn’t all bad, though. According to the AP, Obama and Biden got a standing ovation at a pre-race driver’s meeting. And lest you think the First Lady’s lukewarm reception was due to race, Twitter user @trodabumsoutgrl clears that up for you: “It is not racial – Michelle Obama is scorned by Nascar fans because her husband is a job-killer socialist.” Oh.
