Blake Griffin Destroyed The Spurs Last Night (Videos)

Ah, the San Antonio Spurs. The four-time champions, the great Tim Duncan, the triumph of substance over flash, the league’s best record at 15-2. What better team to put that young whippersnapper Blake Griffin and his 3-15 Clippers in their proper place? Sure, Griffin’s been impressive, but is he ready to help take down one of the league’s best teams?

Yes.

The Clippers beat the Spurs last night, 90-85. And while we wouldn’t count on that result happening too often if the teams played each other 10 times, it’s what happened last night that matters. And last night, Griffin was brilliant, posting a neatly palindromic stat line of 31 points and 13 rebounds. Oh, and he had a bunch of crazy dunks. You can see one of them above. Some other highlights:

Remember, Griffin is 6-10, 250. And there, he just blows past everyone as he sprints down the court, followed by a pretty serious leap on the finish. And he made all that look awfully easy. He’s also impressive in cleaning up after a miss:

What’s that? Disappointed in the lack of alley-oop videos thus far? Well, you’re hard to please, but hey, Griffin’s performance last night had a little something for everyone, so…

Yes, if there’s one thing Griffin proved last night, it’s that when he gets a head of steam and charges at the basket, no one’s slowing him down. Not even…

…Tim Duncan. We mentioned “the triumph of substance over flash” before, but if there’s one thing Griffin’s shown at the outset of his career, it’s that he has both in abundance. And he’s going to be very hard to stop for a very long time because of it.
