Doc Rivers Is Returning To The Celtics
Doc Rivers texted his buddies at the Boston Globe a little over an hour ago, telling them “I’m coming back. I want another crack at it with this group.”
Many speculated on Rivers’ future after he started spinning the “I want to spend more time with my kids” yarn following the NBA Finals. To Rivers’ credit, his kids seem interesting to the point that there’s probably some truth to his statements.
His second-oldest son, Austin, is currently playing in the FIBA under-18 championships and is considered one of the top high school basketball prospects in the country. He also has another basketball-playing son, and a daughter who plays volleyball.
Meanwhile, Paul Pierce has opted out of the last year of his contract with the Celtics. Although this may seem like a foreboding sign for Boston’s chances at another title, Pierce is likely to return to the team. It just so happens that opting out of his contract and negotiating a new one is financially beneficial.
