Carmelo Anthony Calls Jeremy Lin’s Contract “Ridiculous,” Everyone Freaks Out

Carmelo Anthony was pressed on the topic of Jeremy Lin recently, and he told Newsday that he thought his contract was “ridiculous.” Melo was, of course, taken out of context, as he was referring to the structure of the contract, and not the total dollar amount. But, to no one’s surprise, Twitter exploded.

Well, newsflash: Jeremy Lin’s contract is ridiculous. $5 million, $5 million, $14 million, with a loophole so it counts as $8 million towards the cap each year for the Rockets, and the exact value each year toward the cap for the Knicks? That, my friends, is called using a loophole, and it is absolutely ridiculous. But because we’re all in the business of taking quotes out of context, here’s how the Internet collectively shat its pants.

(There are many, many more, but I got tired of taking Twitter screenshots.)

Sure, Melo hasn’t exactly given Lin a ringing endorsement and his statement may not have been tactful or precise, but to blow it up more than the innocuous statement that it is is simply RIDICULOUS. Internet asshattery at its best.
