Report: Chris Paul Has Been Traded To The Los Angeles Clippers [UPDATE]

[UPDATE: It appears as if the trade has been made official, according to this New Orleans Hornets press release. So, now we can all relax.]

It would be nice to say that Chris Paul has “officially” been traded to the Los Angeles Clippers, but I’m not ready to be fooled again. We’ve been here before with the league reportedly trading Paul to the Clippers a few days ago, only to have the deal rescinded at the last minute. The latest reports, however, seem about as close to “official” as it gets.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports, the NBA has agreed to send Paul to the Los Angeles Clippers in a deal that includes Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu and the Minnesota Timberwolves unprotected first-round draft pick, which the Clippers owned by way of a previous deal.

That seems to be a hefty haul, getting back what likely will be a lottery draft pick, Gordon, who some believed was untouchable in this or any deal, Kaman, who is a sufficient 7-footer and Aminu, who was the 8th-overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. However, when you’re getting back arguably the best point guard in the NBA who also happens to be in the prime of his career, you ultimately have to give something to get something.

Again, it’s worth noting that we’ve been here before with Paul being moved, previously in a deal with the Lakers, but we’ll update the news as soon as the league deems this deal to be official.
