Everyone’s Favorite NBA Owner Is Giving Away Free Phones During The Lockout

Oh the joys of the NBA lockout. We’re now in day 2,341 of the league’s work stoppage (rough estimate, it’s at least 100, but we’ve lost any interest in counting).
No 2011-12 season means more time for a star point guard to partake in a day time game show we were unaware still existed. It’s also given a two-time defending scoring champ an opportunity to show off his skills on the amateur flag football scene. Even mascots are finding interesting ways to bide their time.

Owners are also having trouble staying busy. So much so, that one owner has enlisted the help of one of the greatest players in the history of the game to promote a gimmicky giveaway for his company.
Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, who already had a bit of a PR flap regarding this lockout, called on Magic Johnson to provide “a little magic” for his Quicken Loans customers.
We know: Gilbert is an easy target. But seriously, free Android phones when you call to ask for a home loan review? This is an “if you call in the next 10 minutes you’ll also get…” from being a pajama jeans ad. We love this game!
