Danilo Gallinari’s 2011 Did Not Have A Happy Ending

The Nuggets lost 92-89 to the Lakers today, and while such a close loss is always disappointing, this one was especially bad. Why? Because with just a couple seconds to go in regulation, the game should have been tied at 91. Kobe Bryant missed a shot with just under 10 seconds left, the Nuggets got the rebound, and found a streaking Danilo Gallinari ahead of the Lakers’ defense, charging toward the basket. He got an easy layup attempt. And…

That’s the kind of miss that will drive you to wonder whether a higher power not only exists, but is driven by hatred of your favorite team. It’s the kind of miss that, if you’re Gallinari, will make you question whether that higher power is driven by hatred of you. But hey – there’s always next year.
