In Which Dwight Howard Is Propositioned By A College Girl
Meet Margo Lorbecke. She’s a junior at the University of Central Florida, studying pre-med, and she has an interesting proposition for Orlando Magic big man Dwight Howard. No, she doesn’t want him to take her to a sorority formal. She actually wants to challenge him in a free-throw shooting contest. Interesting.
Of course it’s no surprise that the one real deficiency in Howard’s game is his free-throw shooting. Hitting fewer than 60 percent of his attempts on his career, Ms. Lorbecke feels as if she can do him one better. Her request is simple: if she beats Howard in a free-throw shooting contest, he pays the remainder of her college tuition. If Howard wins, Ms. Lorbecke promises to let him pick something for her to do. Yes, whatever he wants.
I love that she uses the examples of “painting herself blue” and “washing his cars” as things he might pick for her to do. Dwight has to be thinking to himself, “Sure, that seems fair. If you win, I shell out, what, $35,000? If I win, I save $80 on having you wash my cars. Where do I sign up?”
