Dwyane Wade’s Ex-Wife Charged With Trying To Abduct His Two Sons

Dwyane Wade did what any good father would do this Sunday: he spent the day with his children. But his two sons, who were in Chicago with Wade’s ex-wife, almost didn’t make it to Miami.
Wade’s plan was to fly the pair out to South Beach on Saturday to be with them on Father’s Day. When Dwyane’s sister, who was in Chicago, called to pick up the boys to bring them to the airport, there was no answer, and then things got complicated. Wade’s sister called the police, who showed up at the Chicago home. According to reports filed, Siohvaughn Funches-Wade (Dwyane’s ex-wife) attempted to flee her home with one of the boys when she was being taken into custody.
Per the Miami Herald:
Siohvaughn Funches-Wade was charged with two counts of attempted child abduction, two counts of unlawful visitation interference and one count of resisting arrest, Cook County Sheriff’s spokesman Frank Bilecki told The AP on Tuesday. Another woman at the home at the time, Nadgee Alarcon, was charged with one count of resisting arrest, Bilecki said. All the charges are misdemeanors.
The “other woman” who was with Wade’s ex at the time, is pretty much unknown. Wade later said the incident has not affected his performance in the Finals, and he was only concerned about getting to spend the holiday with his sons.
“That’s what mattered most to me, getting them here to be with me on Father’s Day,” Wade said.
You’ve got to feel for a guy like D-Wade. We know he’s a great father, who recently had to deal with an ugly divorce and custody battle. He’s playing through injury in the Finals, and what should have been a special day for him and his sons almost turned into a nightmare.
It will be interesting to see how ABC handles this drama tonight. Will there be any mention of this incident? Wade has been dealing with this custody struggle for two years, but it never really gets much of a mention. We will definitely hear about the Serge Ibaka-LeBron James beef, but this incident is a bit more serious, and probably, a bit more worthy of attention.
And the date set for the trial for this incident? That would be the same date that Game 7 of the NBA Finals is scheduled for, assuming the series gets there.
