These May Be The Closest Things To NBA Highlights You See For A While, So Savor Them

The NBA is locked out. It’s probably going to be locked out for a while – as in, “losing at least part of the 2011-12 season.” You know this. And it’s why, if you’re a die-hard fan of the league, you were excited about yesterday’s game between the Washington, D.C.-based Goodman League and L.A.-centered Drew League. The action was tightly contested (Goodman narrowly pulled out a 135-134 win), it was obviously high-scoring…oh, and it might be the most NBA talent we see in one place until the lockout ends.

You had Thunder teammates Kevin Durant and James Harden squaring off (Durant led all scorers with 44 for the victors, while Harden poured in 34 for Drew). There was the Bucks’ Brandon Jennings, putting in a valiant 38-point effort for Drew but coming up short. The Kings’ DeMarcus Cousins and the Wizards’ JaVale McGee battled in the post. And the point guard who helped Durant score that 44? Another Wizard – last year’s No. 1 overall draft pick, John Wall.

An impressive collection of talent – one you’d expect would produce an impressive collection of highlights to match. You’d be right. Players were flying around the court with ease, and with the backing of an extremely enthusiastic crowd, made acrobatic plays at the rim with regularity. Fortunately, Ball is Life was there to capture some of the best. Watch below, savor it, and hope it won’t be too long before you see these guys doing stuff like this again.
