Isiah Thomas Will One Day Return To Knicks, Because He And James Dolan Are Besties

Former New York Knicks president Isiah Thomas has a gentleman’s agreement with team owner James Dolan that Thomas will eventually return to the Knicks as a consultant, according to the New York Daily News.

Thomas’ return could happen as early as April, when FIU, the college team he coaches, concludes its season. Thomas rescinded an offer from the Knicks last week to return to the organization, because it would have created an obvious conflict of interest.

In case your just joining us, Thomas’ first run with the Knicks didn’t go so hot (salary cap-crippling trades and sexual harassment suits were markers of his legacy). So why would Dolan be so anxious to bring Thomas back to the franchise that he almost single-handedly destroyed?

Take it away, Daily News:

“Isiah is one of Jim Dolan’s best friends,” says a person close to Thomas. “That’s good enough for him.”

Yep, that sounds about right.
