It’s Official: The Knicks, For Whatever Reason, Are Letting Jeremy Lin Walk
Maybe it was the high price tag. Maybe it was hurt feelings over a rough (though completely fair and normal) negotiating process. Maybe it was confidence in Raymond Felton. Whatever the reason, James Dolan and the Knicks decided not to match Jeremy Lin’s offer sheet. Linsanity will officially hit Houston this fall.
The Knicks confirmed to ESPN’s Ian Begley the reports that have been swirling all day, saying that they would not look to re-sign the guard who breathed life back into New York basketball just a few months ago. Begley tweeted his scoop at 10:33 p.m., and Twitter hasn’t stopped blowing up since. After claiming they would “absolutely” match any offer to Lin, the Knicks went back on their word.
Daryl Morey, the Rockets GM, corroborated the news:
Welcome to Houston @JLin7! We plan to hang on this time. You will love #RedNation
— Daryl Morey (@dmorey) July 18, 2012
Lin himself chimed in with some kind words:
Much love and thankfulness to the Knicks and New York for your support this past year…easily the best year of my life #ForeverGrateful
— Jeremy Lin (@JLin7) July 18, 2012
And this is the most common reaction to that news so far tonight:
The Knicks are stupid. Period.

No arguments here.
