Jason Kidd Should Probably Be Dead

We knew Jason Kidd was arrested on suspicion of DWI over the weekend. We knew he (allegedly) looked like he was having quite the night leading up to the incident in question. We knew he looked really sad in his mugshot and got made fun of by the New York tabloids. We knew, in short, that this was a bad situation. But how bad it was didn’t hit us until a photo of what his car looked like post-accident surfaced. This, according to the New York Daily News, is that car:

Barstool Sports said it looked like Jason Kidd should be dead. And… it looks like Jason Kidd should be dead. We’ve seldom seen the front of a car more fully wrecked than that. And you don’t just have to take it from us – here’s what an NYPD officer who spoke to the Daily News said:

“That’s really his car? Wow. I can’t believe Jason Kidd actually survived that. When I see an accident that bad, I expect at least serious injury, if not death.”

We guess the front of the car – as well as just about everything contained therein – simply absorbed nearly all the impact, so that the damage on the rest of it (extremely fortunately for Kidd) was minimal. The car is still completely ruined, of course, but at least the person who was inside it isn’t. And it’s a good thing Kidd was the only person inside, and that the crash was with a pole instead of another car. Even if you were just in the biggest fight you’ve ever been in, seriously, people: don’t get behind the wheel when you’ve been drinking.

No, it wasn’t the engineers.  It was “luck.”

Funnier still is that without the tiny facade you see the vehicle is more or less a minivan.  Ok, I might go with full size “van.”

Looks like the crumple zones did their job
