The Kobe Bryant Divorce Settlement Is A Cautionary Tale In Pre-Nup Necessity

When it came out last month that Kobe Bryant and wife Vanessa were getting a divorce, some took an interest in the fact that the couple apparently had no prenuptial agreement. That, Ball Don’t Lie’s Eric Freeman noted, would entitle Vanessa Bryant to half Kobe’s net worth.

Well, according to TMZ, the property settlement is final. And sure enough, Vanessa walked away with about half of Kobe’s assets. In dollar figures, that amounts to about $75 million. That’s a lot. And much of that total comes from mansions. Three mansions, to be exact: the one Kobe and Vanessa lived in, the one Vanessa’s mother lived in, and the just-completed one the couple would have lived in if they were, you know, still a couple. TMZ has photos. They look…spacious.

Even if the settlement is about what one would expect legally, the types and value of the assets involved still boggle the mind. Three mansions. $75 million. We could stare at those numbers as long as we wanted and they’d never start registering any more. Vanessa didn’t come out out of these proceedings too badly. About as well as you can when every aspect of your failed marriage is published for public consumption and there are rumors you were cheated on with more than 100 different women, anyway.

I understand that Vanessa was cheated on.. But i dont give a rats ass, that does not warrant this amount of money, when shes going to get child support & Spousal support. This makes no sense whatsoever! This will be a lesson to all the rich folks out there, to make sure you get that prenup.
