Mamba Number Five: Kobe Bryant Passes Shaq For Fifth Place On The All-Time Scoring List

Big ups to Kobe Bryant, who tonight passed his one-time teammate Shaquille O’Neal for fifth place in the NBA’s all-time scoring list. Heading into tonight, Kobe needed 24 points against the 76ers to gain sole possession of fifth place. Well, he wasted no time in hitting that mark, as it took just 17 minutes for the Mamba to score his first 24 points.

Kobe and Shaq have long been at odds, at least as long back since they played together on the Lakers and won three consecutive titles. Many believed that this one-time dynasty, probably destined for even greater reward, was crumbled thanks to their well-documented beef. Alas, the duo has long been lumped together on the greatness scale. And until now, at least Shaq could say that statistically he had the upper-hand. As of this evening, however, Kobe gets the last laugh. Or, shall we say, the next laugh. I’m sure it’ll only be a matter of time before Shaq responds via rap battle. Just don’t forget to drop the mc before you walk off the stage, Shaq-Fu.

Here’s the “historic” shot that pushed the Mamba into fifth place on the all-time list:
