Watch Kobe Bryant Hilariously Dominate A Charity Game Filled With Non-Basketball-Players

Kobe Bryant turns 34 in three days. He’s coming off a season – a condensed, short-on-rest season at that – in which he played nearly five minutes per game more than he did the previous year. And he followed that up by playing in the Olympics. Time for him to rest up and get ready for a title chase with the Lakers’ re-stocked roster, right?

Not exactly. Just a week removed from the gold medal game against Spain, Kobe was in Shanghai for a charity exhibition game (if you’re wondering what he was doing there, the exhibition was put on by Sprite, which Kobe endorses). And at first, he did rest, not playing the first half. But the fans were there to see Kobe. So in the second half, he emerged… and it was Globetrotters vs. Generals time:

Final tally: 68 points. OK, so he only played 15 minutes, and no one else in the game plays basketball for a living (as the video above makes pretty plain), so maybe it wasn’t that taxing. But Kobe did say on his Facebook page that he “ran and ran and ran” and treated the exhibition as “a training session for my stamina.” As much as the Lakers surely appreciate Kobe’s work ethic, they were probably relieved by the last line of Kobe’s Facebook post, where he looked forward to getting some “much needed rest.” Even with Steve Nash and Dwight Howard around, Kobe will still have to do work.
