The Lakers And Clippers Sank Impossible Shots Like They Were Nothing Last Night

The Lob City well-rounded basketball team Los Angeles Clippers beat the Lakers last night, 102-94. The win moves the Clippers to 6-3, and while Kobe Bryant had another 40-point night, Chris Paul showed why the Clippers went out and got him, with 33 points and six assists (though he also strained a hamstring late).

And beyond the whole ongoing “Changing of the guard in L.A.?” Clippers-Lakers storyline, last night’s game delivered from a highlight perspective. And we don’t even mean with lobs – we mean with shots from seemingly-impossible lengths. Each team pulled one off. The Lakers’ Darius Morris was first, firing from beyond the halfcourt line at the end of the first quarter (video by CJ Fogler):

Perfect. And it wasn’t pure luck…that was just a shot with a whole lot of force behind it, right on target. Not to be outdone, though, Paul got the ball with the shot clock running down early in the fourth quarter, with the Lakers making it close. And plays like this are why they couldn’t make it closer:

Sure, it wasn’t as long as Morris’, but Paul hit it even more coolly, basically like a regular jumper. Shot clock running down, tight game, Kobe Bryant closing in on you defensively, 30-plus feet away from the basket…no big deal. Paul has it covered. And clearly, that ability to make the game look so easy is already serving the Clippers well.
