Lamar Odom Finally Leaves The Dallas Mavericks

Welp, Lamar Odom has finally found a way to leave the Mavericks without actually being released by the team.

According to Marc Stein, Odom and the Mavericks “spent Easter Sunday working out a parting” which entails listing him as inactive for the rest of the season instead of outright cutting him from the team.

Even if either side had pushed for a formal release, there is little upside to taking that step now with Odom ineligible to play in the playoffs with another team because he wasn’t waived before the March 23 deadline. One source close to the 32-year-old told ESPN.com that the decision sets Odom up to “clear his head and start getting ready for next season” after his career-low numbers and minutes continued to dip as the season wore on.

There was always the possibility that Odom — who has looked lost on the Mavericks after pushing for a trade from LA — would serve as a playoff wild card, giving the Mavericks a shot in the arm off the bench. But it appears that whatever disconnect exists between him and the team (be it emotional or based in X’s and O’s) isn’t something that can be amended by the start of the postseason.

Lamar Odom is a punk!  Weak.  Put him in the same class as Derek Fisher.  So locked in to the Lakers that they can’t do their multi-million dollar a year jobs anywhere else but Los Angeles.  You can bet this hurts the Lakers in a big way.  Who would want to trade for players that aren’t going to be around for enough of a time to make a trade with the team worth the effort.

Plus he ruined his NBA career with taking part in that Kardashian reality TV content.  Does not work with the Lakers.  Or any other team.  Look at what happened to Kris Humphries.  What a joke he became.

You come to play basketball not screw around with reality television.  And it is no good for a player at Lamar’s level.  Nothing negative about any of these reality shows but look at the sports careers that have gone away because of reality TV.  Terrell Owens.  Chad Ochocinco.  Look at how quickly Michael Vick said goodbye to reality TV.  Throw in Ron Artest who had to chill out or he would have ended up in New Jersey.  Smart to distance themselves from that mess.

Lamar’s 32.  Not much left at 32 in the NBA.  Not much at all.
