Here Was The Phantom Goaltending Call In Portland Last Night That Had Everyone Losing Their Minds

With 12 seconds remaining in a two point game, the Oklahoma City Thunder in-bounded the ball to Kevin Durant (natch) in an attempt to tie the game. Durant’s goal was simple, drive past LaMarcus Aldridge and score. He did, but only because Aldridge was called for goaltending, and it really only takes one look at the review to see that’s the wrong call.

Yes there are too many reviews in sports, and we get tired of waiting for the results. It’s really bad in the arena to have all the time spent standing around readying your catcalls and insults for the officials lest they get the call wrong. But in this case, it likely cost the Blazers the game (they would lose in OT, 111-107), and a short review would have reversed the call.

The Blazers would go on to lose the game in overtime, and the announcers discussed the controversial play and said that they felt it would be the story of the game, and even suggested the officials get an escort out of the building. They shouldn’t need one, but it will be interesting to see if the league comments on this.

Nba Officials dont impress me at all. That was a clear block, and If it wasnt for that stupid goaltending call, the Blazers would have won, In fact, They did win, Just not in the eyes of officials

Why is anyone surprised by this kind of call when the head of official and many of the officials themselves are convicted felons.

The official in the worst position to make the call made the call.
