Landry Fields Has No Idea Where That Famous Jeremy Lin Couch Is

There was once a couch. A regular, rented couch, and it was brown. It sat in Landry Fields’ New York City apparent in relative anonymity. Then Jeremy Lin slept on it the night before he exploded against the New Jersey Nets to kick off Linsanity, and that couch was no longer a couch. It was an icon. It was artifact of NBA history. And now it’s gone forever.

Landry Fields spoke with the New York Post about that famed couch recently, and has unfortunately reported that the rented couch had in fact been returned. Once Fields signed an offer sheet with the Toronto Raptors and the Knicks did not match, the couch’s fate had been sealed.

“‘It was a rental couch,’ Fields said at the morning shootaround before facing the Knicks Friday night at the Bell Centre. ‘I had to give it back. I wonder if they even know (the history). It’s probably boxed up.’”

So that means that no one’s buying it at a ridiculous price, like Babe Ruth’s 1948 Lincoln Continental, or passing it down to some grandchildren. No word on the rental company Fields used, so it will be especially difficult for some enterprising collector to scoop it up. And anyway, it’s luster is at least partially gone now that it’s not in Fields’ apartment, so it’s just regular couch again. Which is sad, in some respects, because how often do couches reach such levels of fame? Then again, it’s a fucking couch.
