LeBron James’ Stunt Double Has A New Job Coaching In The Lingerie Basketball League
LeBron James‘ stunt double has found a new line of work that doesn’t revolve around being LeBron James — he’s been named head coach of the Lingerie Basketball League’s LA Beauties.
We’ll allow a few seconds for processing.
Indeed, LeBron James has a stunt double. And yes, the Lingerie Basketball League is exactly what it sounds like.
A 6-6, 225-pound forward who used to suit up for Winthrop and Florida International University before a brief stint playing overseas, Sheldon Bailey has been the on-set double in 12 national and international commercials for King James, Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard. In between, he authored “180 Degrees: A Book Of Poems.”
In an interview for Dime Magazine, Bailey described life on set for LeBron:
“Before the shoot, I stand in so they can get all the camera angles right. That way everything is prepared so when LeBron comes to the set he just steps right in. His time is at a premium. There are also different things that may be too dangerous for him to do, or extra things he doesn’t have to do like dunks or ball-handling.”
Before his first commercial shoot, Bailey spent nine hours getting fake tattoos applied identical to LeBron’s. He was also a stand-in for Kobe Bryant’s Guitar Hero commercial and a Dwight Howard Adidas ad.
The Lingerie Basketball League — “where beauty meets the hardwood” — kicks off its inaugural season this weekend in Southern California, with Bailey’s Beauties scheduled to take on the LA Divas at Montclair Prep, a high school in Van Nuys.
The four-team league — which also includes the LA Glam and LA Starlets — will be in action every Friday night, and the events are all doubleheaders. And because we know you’re interested: tickets are $20 for a single game, $30 for the doubleheader action.
…Apparently, this is life after professional basketball.
