Today In Hilarious/Terrifying Mugshots: NBA Free Agent Matt Barnes

Free agent forward Matt Barnes was arrested late Monday for “an outstanding misdemeanor traffic warrant and for allegedly threatening a police officer.” He apparently owed $26,000 in traffic fines, and had to shell out another $25,000 in bail before he was finally released.

But the story was his mugshot (pictured above), where he looks like the Devil, but with unkempt hair. That smile will haunt my dreams for the foreseeable future.

Barnes is renowned for his “toughness” by some, or chastised for his “dirty play” by others. Regardless, he has a reputation as a tough guy who takes pictures like this:

This is his NBA profile pic. And his ESPN one. There’s precedent. If anyone in sports is going to take a creepy mugshot, it’s Matt Barnes. He’s a habitual creepy-picture-taker.

To be fair, Barnes has some stuff to say about all this, which we must point out, was first reported by everyone’s favorite unreliable news agency, TMZ.

So perhaps the details of the arrest were inaccurate. But the mugshot is confirmed, and creepy.

Finally, in the interest of being fair and balanced, we give you… after hours of searching… PLEASANT-LOOKING FATHER, Matt Barnes. (That’s his ex-girlfriend and two children in the picture, we assume taken when the two were still together).

Aww! Now that doesn’t look like a man who would threaten a police officer, have $26,000 in unpaid traffic tickets and drive with a suspended license, right?
