The Mavericks’ Best Player Is A Dork

The Mavericks lost a tough one to the Lakers last night, 96-91. They lost despite a 25-point, 12-rebound effort from Dirk Nowitzki, whose game was a microcosm of his season so far: he started slow, then picked things up later on. Indeed, Nowitzki scored the Mavs’ last points of the night on a tip-in with 29 seconds left that pulled Dallas within two. The Mavericks’ official Twitter account (whose updates also post to the team’s Facebook page), keeping tabs of the action, updated fans on this development. Alas, sometimes when a tweet is posted very a quickly, a mistake is made. And in this case…

… sure, the Mavericks aren’t the “Macs” either, but Dork Dirk got the worst of this one. The Mavericks’ meal ticket for over a decade, the linchpin that led them to their first championship and season after season of playoff appearances before that – yeah, the Mavs’ resident social media person was probably a little red-faced after that one.

And indeed, the tweet no longer appears on the Mavs’ account, but lives on through retweets by people making fun of it… and now, this post. Let’s hope the Mavs’ Twitter account never has to talk about Dirk’s beloved aunt (warning: link NSFW).
