A Nick Collison NBA Mixtape Filled With Plenty Of “White Guy Hustle” (NSFW)

It used to be that Brain Scalabrine was the ultimate “hustle” guy in the NBA. Or, maybe the more appropriate title is, “The Ultimate White Guy Who Comes Off The Bench To Set Picks And Dive For Balls.” Now, however, there’s plenty of love going around the Internet for Oklahoma City Thunder big man Nick Collison as everyone’s favorite setter of picks and court diver. Hey, someone needs to fill that role.

Collison posted a blog over at GQ.com, in which he talked about players of his ilk and how “they” manage to fill out a role and maintain a roster spot in the NBA. Collison spoke about finding his value, and doing those things — like, hustling, diving for balls, setting screens, etc. — that keep him employed. It’s so very true that every team can’t be comprised of a dozen Corey Maggettes — Or, Derrick Roses, for that matter. Guys like Collison are a need for successful teams. Just ask anyone whose watched enough Thunder games this season.

He also went on to say that the key to his success was knowing that while he can “do more,” he needed to take a backseat and recognize that guys like Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook can also do more, but do it a lot better than Collison can. And because of that recognition, he’s able to “get paid a huge salary,” “be a part of the one percent,” get his summers off and “take plenty of naps.” It’s nice work if you can get it… and hold onto it.

Here is a video mashup of Collison doing “his thing,” which, yes, includes setting screens. [Note: language in the music is NSFW -- so, turn your volume off if that's a problem.]

Taking the charge was impressive but the majority of the screens in this comp were weak.
