With 2:43 left in last night’s romp of the Pistons, Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau signaled for the Mamba. As in “The White Mamba.” As in rarely-used backup center Brian Scalabrine. And people lost. their. minds.

Scalabrine’s reception from the United Center crowd was one they usually reserve for reigning MVP Derrick Rose, further proving the long-known fact that nothing tickles an NBA fan like a seldom-used Caucasian. Since there is nary a more seldom-used Caucasian than Brian Scalabrine, he is beloved.

Which is why, when he doubled his season scoring average by making a single jump shot, pandemonium ensued.
