Pierce Changes Tune, Says Celtics Can’t Take Home Court For Granted
If Paul Pierce were a girl I were interested in (you know, if I had a thing for girls with hideous 15-year-old boy facial hair), I would accuse him of sending mixed signals.
A day after Pierce told Laker fans that the Celtics would not be flying back to the west coast again this season, Pierce offered the following quote:
“I told you all … doesn’t guarantee we’re going to win the games because we’re at home. We’ve got to go out there and play the game. They’re going to be coming into our house and we can’t assume anything. We can’t take it for granted.”
Uh…But didn’t you just say earlier that…wait, what?
No, we jest.
In reality, we know that Paul Pierce isn’t Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. And we know that he was just having a little fun with the L.A. crowd before offering some real analytical commentary.
What we’re most sure of, however, is that, while such ambivalent commentary doesn’t ensure victories, it does ensure one thing: media attention. It must be such attention that has helped Pierce move up on the grid to 9 from 10 since yesterday.
