Video: Rajon Rondo’s Elbow Should Not Look Like That
The Boston Celtics got back into their Eastern Conference semifinal series with the Miami Heat yesterday with a 97-81 win, but despite the convincing score, it didn’t come easily…specifically, not for Rajon Rondo. While Kevin Garnett was busy putting up a vintage Garnett performance (28 points, 18 rebounds), Rondo was getting tied up with Dwyane Wade and dislocating his elbow, leading Celtics partisans to label Wade’s play as dirty. Was it? Here’s what it looked like (not for the squeamish):
Either way, it was not pretty. And what also wouldn’t have been pretty: the Celtics’ chances to come back and win this series (much less any series after) without Rondo. Good thing, then, that Rondo actually returned to the game after the dislocation, getting the elbow popped back into place and essentially continuing on with one properly-functioning arm. That one arm, though, was enough to pull this off:
You know, we’d love to be able to do that even at full strength. And this series just got way more interesting.
