Ron Artest Makes Triumphant Return To Queensbridge Projects (Video)

Ron Artest, in his quest to become the most accessible crazy athlete of all time, held a barbecue and concert in Queensbridge, N.Y., his famous hometown.

Queensbridge, as you may or may not know at this point, is home to some of the most well-known housing projects in America. It’s also Artest’s hometown, a fact permanently embedded in the brain of Craig Sager.

Truth be told, this is like Artest’s 12th such soiree since the Lakers defeated the Celtics last month. Periodically, you would see him promoting a free barbecue or party at his house in the aftermath of his Finals victory, something only he would do (Kobe never invite complete strangers to his home on Twitter, for instance).

The party caps off the greatest individual victory lap in recent memory. A music video, well-documented late-night alcohol showers, and appearances on Chelsea Handler and Jimmy Kimmel have made Ron Ron an occupant of the overlapping area on the sports and pop culture venn diagram.

Here are two videos of his Queensbridge homecoming, one of him accepting an award from the state senate on “Ron Artest Day,” the other of him walking around, shaking hands.
