Sebastian Telfair’s Younger Brother (Or… Not?) Accused Of Beating Up His High School Dean With Umbrella (UPDATE)

UPDATE: This is an especially weird update, so we’re sticking it right at the top of the story. Sebastian Telfair tweeted at the New York Daily News (which reported on the alleged incident yesterday) and said, “@nydnsports I don’t have a brother name cavon. Please double check before using my name.” Needless to say, Sebastian Telfair’s brother not being involved would be a large wrinkle in a story about Sebastian Telfair’s brother. A weird story gets weirder.

The original post is below.

Lincoln High School is synonymous with producing NBA-caliber ballplayers – Stephon Marbury, Lance Stephenson, Sebastian Telfair – but some of those NBA-caliber players have also faced their share of off-court issues.

And so, now, has Telfair’s younger brother: Cavon Telfair, an 18-year old who attends Lincoln, has been charged with assaulting the school’s dean, Shawn O’Connor with an umbrella.

Cavon was called into see O’Connor, who is also the head coach for the school’s football team, around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. According to the News, Cavon had been spotted tossing rocks and bottles at faculty the day before. Their chat didn’t go so well, and school agents had to rush in to restrain the teen. Cavon was later hit with assault charges.

O’Connor (the dean) is also Lincoln’s football coach – the first sign of any cloud at their next practice, some kid on the team is gonna say, “Hey coach, it’s about to rain out here, better cancel practice before we have to bust out the umbrellas,” and so on and so forth. Poor guy.
