Last Night Was The Official Coming Out Party For Miami’s Big Three

Last night, all things considered, the Miami Heat played its best game of basketball since acquiring LeBron James and Chris Bosh. While the Thunder stumbled, the Heat were the team they’ve talked about wanting to be, thinking they were. They overpowered the Thunder for almost all of Game 2, and withstood a heart-pounding rally to win 100-96.

For the night: LeBron had 32 points and eight boards (and the bank shot), Wade 25 and six, Bosh 16 and 15. With the exception of Shane Battier (who also, somehow, had a bank shot?), no one else on the team had more than three points.

They were even “clutch.” LeBron hit two three throws to ice it in the closing seconds. They got the loose balls. And there was this play:

They all had a role: LeBron setting the screen and playing back, Wade’s drive and yogic dish, Bosh putting the ball, with force, in the basket. Though this didn’t put the game away, it couldn’t have come at a more crucial time.

If they Heat win it all, they’ll look at this game as the turning point in these Finals and in the history of the team.

Momentum has shifted towards Miami, as has the series. Game 3 is on Sunday in South Beach.
