The Daily Yam: A Pair Of Ancient-Looking But Nonetheless Impressive Yams From Tim Duncan
Welcome to The Daily Yam, bringing you the top play from the night before, anything else you might have missed, and what to look forward to today. It’s your one-stop shop when you skipped last night’s action, and/or have forgotten what day it is. Today, we recognize Tim Duncan, who doesn’t normally do this kind of thing, doing it twice, all over the Lakers.
Your Daily Yam.
Tim Duncan has made a Hall of Fame career out of perfecting the fundamentals. He’s got a stellar post game, a nearly automatic bank shot, and he’s a stout defender. He is not known for playing with much fire — at least not outwardly — and fire is the first ingredient in any good yam. So imagine our surprise when Tim Duncan yammed it on three different Lakers via two separate dunks last night. The Staples Center went into shock after each one (though it’s hard to tell with that crowd, which is usually too cool to cheer or even show up on time). Check it out (via TheHoopScene):
The four championship rings are impressive and all, but there’s nothing quite like a pair of yams on the Lakers.
What Else Happened Last Night?
Adam Scott became the first Australian player to win the Masters, putting on the fabled green jacket after besting Angel Cabrera in two playoff holes. It’s Scott’s first major, which means that he’ll have a tough time topping this one for the rest of his life — no pressure, though; after getting dunked on, the Lakers took down the Spurs, bringing them one step closer to the playoffs despite losing Kobe on Friday; the Knicks wrapped up the East’s 2-seed with a dominating defensive performance over the Pacers [Editor's note: I was there!].
What’s On Tap For Today?
The Jazz will try to keep pace with the Lakers for the 8th spot when they take on the Timberwolves; the WNBA Draft goes down, as three particularly impressive ladies in Brittney Griner, Elena Della Donne and Skylar Diggins find out where they’ll be playing for the next few years.
Try to enjoy your Monday, would you?
