Tim Donaghy Is Crying About Money, Needs to Shut Up

Tim Donaghy, who was put in jail for being a money-grubbing scumbag, is (again) trying to get his name back in the news after nearly five years of anonymity. The exiled former NBA referee wrote a book, Personal Foul, released in 2009, and is now complaining and suing his publisher for not receiving any its estimated $200,000 sales revenue.
“After chronicling his downfall in a book… Donaghy is now suing his Largo publisher. Donaghy’s attorney Nicholas Mooney said publisher Shawna Vercher ‘knew that she could exploit Mr. Donaghy because of his past issues.’ But Khurrum Wahid, attorney for Vercher and her business, VTi Group, said profits were reduced because Donaghy asked for extras, such as asking the company to look into a movie deal, the possibility of selling the book in China, and help for a friend who wanted help setting up business.”
The NBA is in the midst of an incredible Finals matchup, and Donaghy thinks people should feel sorry for him. Apparently he planned to use the revenue to pay a $195,000 restitution to the NBA, but I sure don’t feel any sympathy for ol’ Timmy.
It’s unclear if he’s actually owed the money, but even if he is, it’s tough to say he deserves to make money on the shady bullshit he pulled. As he discusses in Personal Foul, said shady bullshit was “passing inside information to wiseguys who were making millions of dollars on my picks and lining the pockets of Mafia heavyweights.”
Making money on telling people how you made money illegitimately, and helping illegitimate people make money illegitimately? Sounds unfair to me.
So seriously, Tim Donaghy, just shut up. Nobody wants to hear from you again. Even if you are rightfully owed this money (which I doubt), you don’t deserve it. Either get your life together and do something beneficial for society, or go away. And, please, don’t ask anyone for sympathy.
