Tyler Hansbrough Flagrantly Fouled Dwyane Wade, So Udonis Haslem Retaliated In Kind

The Miami-Indiana series is getting quite chippy. In the second quarter of Game 5, Tyler Hansbrough went a bit too Psycho T on Dwyane Wade in what seemed like a relatively honest, albeit unfortunate, shot block attempt. Udonis Haslem, in an attempt to defend his teammate, brutally struck Hansbrough a few possessions later. Psycho T was unhurt, but the purpose was clear. Here’s the Hansbrough foul:

And here’s Udonis Haslem retaliating with his ill-intentioned reprisal:

As Steve Kerr noted in the broadcast, both players will most likely receive fines, with Haslem potentially facing a suspension. But the real question is, what would have happened had Metta World Peace committed Haslem’s foul? A flagrant two, ejection and definite suspension. Just saying.

Hansbrough committed a hard foul going for the ball — a personal foul and nothing more.  Haslem went directly for Hansbrough’s head and upper body with no attempt at the ball. It was excessive and violent and he should have been ejected. Basketball officials continue to be the worst people on earth.

If you’re going to write about what happened at the very least be honest and fair about EVERYTHING that occurred instead of this bs.

In the second quarter of Game 5, Tyler Hansbrough went a bit too Psycho T on Dwyane Wade in what seemed like a relatively honest, albeit unfortunate, shot block attempt” ….Are you kidding me? His hand was no.where.near.the.ball but was all over Wade’s face and neck.
Tyler- was NOT trying to block a shot…he was trying to and succeeded in hurting or injuring Wade thereby committing a FLAGRANT FOUL. It was clear to ALL except the author of this article. “A relatively HONEST shot block attempt”…in what world?

Haslyn in turn displayed his OWN aggression and intentions by assaulting Hansbrough in a retaliatory move that was just as FLAGRANT as Tyler’s.

Personally, I think they should both be ejected. It’s basketball. Yes, it’s the playoffs but it’s not worth injuring someone. Ever.

Did you see the replays.  Hansbrough hit the ball first and Wade brought the ball down further below his head, Hansbrough continued his arm down in the direction of the ball.  The flagrant 1 foul call was correct only because of the final follow through when Hansbrough’s cupped hand went across Wade’s face.  Had Tyler brought is are straight back up, it would have only been a personal foul.  The other two fouls are suspension level, dirty plays.

You are freaking NUTS!!!  His hand came across Wade’s face, clawing and scratching like a bitch.  He may have been going to the ball at first but he intentionally clawed Wade’s face.  Wade was bleeding from a scratch not a cut!  He saw an opportunity and he took it….INTENTIONALLY!!!!

First of all, RD5 is obviously a pacers fan. Hansborough scratched wade and made him bleed. I think we can all agree that is flagrant….

Tea you are absolutely correct. Haslem is a punk. Tyler Hansbrogh’s foul of Dwayne Wade in a playoff game is very similar to Dwayne Wade’s Foul of Kobe in a meaningless all star game. Hansbrough was clearly going for the ball when Wade ‘heard the footsteps’ and pulled the ball back. Hansbrough got the ball and on the follow through got Wade. Haslam is a punk. Kinda funny though that Wade stayed down for an extended period of time (flopper) from a glancing blow when hansbrough popped right back up as the punk Haslam backed off and cowered near his coach and Kobe never even went to the ground after Wade INTENTIONALLY broke his nose. Oh and please clawing a scratching, I am not sure what replay you watched Robin but if wade doesn’t wimp out on the drive to the basket, hansbrough never even touches his face.

You are correct I applaud your honesty… It is just weird that it took this long for yet another Riley “Dirty” team to be called out and they still have not been completely called out. The Heat are dirty, and have been since Riley got there.

Well I am sorry but you simply were not watching any of the replays or the game.

    Q. Did Hansborough get the ball?
    A. Yes

    Q. Was it the first object he made contact with?
    A. Yes

    Q. Did he give the appearance he was going for the ball?
    A. Yes

Result: Flagrant 1 for the swipe of Wade. Right call.

    Q. Did Haslam go for the ball?
    A. No

    Q. What was the first object he made contact with?
    A. The face and head of the player.

    Q. Did he give the appearance he was going for the ball?
    A. No

Result: Offsetting technical fouls. WRONG call. This undoubtedly led to the “Free Shot” by Pitman Since he saw no ejection for the obvious flagrant 2 foul (not called) of Lance Stephenson.

    Wow
