VIDEO: Big Baby Davis’ Depressingly Bad Blown Dunk Against The Heat

The first half of today’s Celtics-Heat game was a sloppy affair for different reasons on each side. The Heat, who led 43-39 at the break, couldn’t miss (18-33 shooting)…but they also couldn’t hold on to the ball, committing 12 turnovers (LeBron and Wade combined for nine of those). The Celtics took better care of the ball (seven turnovers), but couldn’t make a shot, going 16-43 from the floor. And the most embarrassing of those 27 misses belonged to a certain Big Baby.

Early in the second quarter, Glen Davis found himself with a fast break opportunity, and considering he’s a power forward, did a pretty smooth job taking the ball up the court. All that was left to do was finish the play off with an easy. uncontested basket:

…Or that. It was a miss so embarrassing that ‘Glen Davis’ almost immediately became a trending topic on Twitter for it. Davis followed it up by bumping into a rebounding Chris Bosh (it doesn’t look like there was any malicious intent, but honestly, is Bosh ever not getting picked on in some form or another?) Replays made it look almost like Davis was trying to lay the ball in at the tail end of the miss – did he just mis-time his jump?

Whatever he did, he definitely earned a spot on the highlight reel from this game, though not in a way he would have liked. Still, though, the most embarrassing thing about Glen Davis still has to be his name. Maybe he’d avoid mistakes like this if he didn’t have such a stupid name. Seriously, only an idiot would have a name like that.
