VIDEO: What Can Cause Two NBA Teams To Nearly Come To Blows? A Groin Hit, Of Course


Kevin Garnett of the Celtics has a reputation for almost legendary intensity – so much so that at least one prominent opposing player said that he’s not just intense…he’s dirty. And one play from the Celtics’ 88-71 loss to the Suns last night – a play that got Garnett ejected – certainly won’t help him shed that reputation.

In the fourth quarter, Garnett went to defend a shot by the Suns’ Channing Frye, but he never came close to defending the shot. He did, however, make contact with Frye…below the belt. Frye wasn’t pleased. The announcers avoided that reality for a while before one of them finally admitted Frye got hit in the groin. The two teams also “had” to be restrained from going after one another, but the confrontation didn’t look heated enough that a huge fight was ever really in danger of breaking out.
