What Happened Last Night: Knicks On Receiving End Of Linsanity, A Boxing Legend Passes, And The NHL Does Its Thing
Still hungover from Thanksgiving? Can’t be bothered to stay up past 8PM as tryptophan/diabetes runs its course? Don’t worry, you are not alone.
Last night was a busy one in the sports world, with plenty of NBA action and little bit of non-NBA action in play. Here now is a small pinch of the top stories so that you can stay somewhat informed before plowing back into leftover pie.
Knicks face Lin for the first time and get demolished as the honeymoon officially ends
The Rockets had two players with over 30 points (James Harden with 33, Chandler Parsons with 31), shot 51% from the floor (including 56% from three-point land), and won the rebounding battle 49-30 en route to a 131-103 victory over the Knicks in the first game pitting New York against last year’s favorite son, Jeremy Lin. Lin himself had an okay game (13 points and seven assists), so he wasn’t the true star of the night as Houston had double-figure scoring contributions from six players and outscored the Knicks in every quarter on their way to the 28-point blowout victory. Carmelo Anthony paced New York with 37 points (and seven turnovers).
Hector “Macho” Camacho dies at 50 of gunshot wounds to the face
The legendary boxer was declared dead early Saturday morning in San Juan, Puerto Rico, having spent the last four days in the hospital after being shot in the face with ten bags of cocaine in his possession. Camacho, whose last fight was in 2010, passed away with a career record of 79-6-3. He was 50.
The NHL cancels games through December 14 to the surprise of no one
In a move that literally everyone saw coming, the NHL has cancelled all games now through December 14, as well as All Star Weekend festivities slated for January 27. So much activity over something not even hockey fans care about anymore. At what point do they just fold the NHL? That has to be on the table at this point, right?
